Our Home

John Sturrock is a specially designed, modern new build in Leeds, that opened in June 2018.

Dedicated to specialist 24-hour care for people who experience long-term mental health issues, John Sturrock has been designed and built to feel like up-market apartments, not a care home.

People with complex mental health needs deserve to live in an environment that works for, not against, them. This design philosophy has influenced every aspect of John Sturrock, from the carefully landscaped gardens with gentle pathways, quiet spaces and fruit and vegetable plots, to the modern gym and cinema facilities.

All of our rooms are spacious and built up to a standard, not down to a budget. Every room has en suite facilities with an oversized shower area.

Living with other people and being part of a community can be very essential, helping to create a sense of belonging for the people who live at John Sturrock. Our communal rooms are many and varied, from comfortable ‘snug’ lounges, to larger spaces for the whole community.

However, we are also mindful of the fact that, at times, this can provide too much stimulus. Our large, comfortable rooms to have plenty of personal space for people to be themselves – but there will always be staff on hand when needed, to provide care and support.

We opened in June 2018, and are assessing placements – contact us today to find out more.

Taking pride in providing great food

Our philosophy extends to mealtimes too. We provide 12-hour, fully-open service in our bistro style restaurant, using fresh, locally sourced produce, and catering to all different tastes and dietary requirements. Vegetarian and vegan, diabetic, lactose-intolerant and gluten-free diets are all provided for.

As well as our restaurant, we have a small kitchen for people to hone their independent living skills in a supportive environment. Living in a care setting shouldn’t mean people are reliant on staff to make them a brew!

Taking control of mealtimes and having choice in what and when they eat is an important part of independence for many. People living at John Sturrock will be able to enjoy food on their terms, unlike traditional care facilities – but support from our care team will never be far away if needed.

Designed and built with care needs in mind

John Sturrock opened in June 2018, and we are assessing a number of placements – please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to talk to us about this.

You can keep track of our progress in our gallery – we’ll be updating it with images of the build, and showing more of our facilities as they begin to take shape!
